Wairau Intermediate is part of the Ministry of Education Donation Scheme for schools.

The donation scheme is designed to ease pressure and expectations on families to pay donations even though they are voluntary.

The Government therefore pays the school $154.13 per student per year to cover educational activities that are part of our curriculum.  These include activities such as day trips, dance lessons, Life Education, Science Roadshows and performers who visit our school. 

Parents are required to pay for overnight school camps and for team sports semester fees that are outside of school hours.  Students who represent the school at zone days are also required to make a payment to cover transport and event entry costs.

We also ask for a take home fee to cover the materials and items students take home as part of our school technology / specialist programme.
