Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
At Wairau Intermediate, we know that every student experiences challenges
from time to time. We are here to ensure every child feels safe, supported
and connected throughout their time at school.
We offer a range of wellbeing supports to meet the different needs of our
students, including:
– Ease Up Drop-In Clinic every Friday morning, where students can
access support in a relaxed, informal setting.
– A qualified school counsellor, available one day each week for
students who would benefit from ongoing wellbeing support.
– Support from our SENCO (Learning Support Coordinator) and pastoral
team, who work alongside students, whānau and staff to coordinate
appropriate support and connect with outside agencies.
Students are encouraged to reach out whenever they need help. They can
complete our Wellbeing Support Request Form by scanning by following the
link available below Students can self-refer for support at any time.
Parents and whānau are also welcome to contact the school if they have
concerns about their child, and teachers may liaise with our SENCO or
pastoral team if they notice a student who may benefit from additional
support.
Seeking support is a sign of strength, and we are committed to ensuring
every student knows they have caring adults at school who are ready to
listen and help.
